The Easi-Dec 'PULPIT' Roof Access System / Work Platform

The 'Pulpit' in use on a garage roof.

The ‘Pulpit’ roof access system has been designed to reach wall areas above a ground floor roof. This could be either a garage or a conservatory where risk is at it’s highest even for short term working.

Work platform has ample room for one
Pushing the 'Pulpit' up the 'Ladder-Track'

The ‘Pulpit’ work platform itself does not require assembly but just 2 pins to locate it onto it’s trolley.

The ‘Ladder-Track’ supporting it is simply rolled up the roof and rests on padded battens which offer maximum stability during use.

The trolley is fitted with a gravity hook device that locks onto any rung position for either work positioning or just in case of slip during movement up or down the roof.

Once the platform is occupied, the curved safety gates are closed and lock automatically for safety.

The ‘Ladder-Track’ is supplied with a wide roller at the top to provide easy positioning up the roof. If the track is too long the roller can be re-positioned lower down thus leaving any spare track above the ridgeline.

The lower section below the hinge is fitted with coarse and fine adjustment for height and level adjustment for sloping ground.

Technical Description

  • The base section of the Ladder-Track is splayed at the bottom to provide maximum stability and has a third leg fitted to prevent any outward slippage.

  • All three legs are fitted with large rubber feet to give maximum grip on the ground.

  • Tying-off to the building is highly recommended as is locking the hinge angle. Provision for doing both is made within the system.

  • The standard ‘Ladder-Track’ is adjustable from 2.8 to 3.5m up to the gutter and a fixed length of 3.3m up to the ridge. Alternative lengths are available to order.

  • The ‘Pulpit’ platform is adjustable for roof angle from 10 to 50 degrees and is achieved by repositioning two pins.

  • The roller at the head of the upper section can be moved to any rung position.

  • Weight of the ‘Pulpit’ platform is 9kg and is 40 x 40cm and toe-boards are available as an optional extra.

  • Construction is entirely of welded high yield aluminium.

  • A big advantage for the User is that the ‘Pulpit’ platform shown here is identical to our ‘Painters-Mate’ platform and can be used for this type of access simply by buying the special ladder from Easi-Dec. See Painters Mate.

Operational Description

The ‘Ladder-Track’ is hinged at the point nearest the gutter so that the upper section can lay flat onto the roof and to enable it to fold up for transportation and storage.

After fitting the battens, the upper section is rolled up the roof to a point where the lower section can be folded out leaving the special hinge at gutter level.

At this point the trolley is fitted and run up to about shoulder level.

The lower section of ‘Ladder-Track’ is then fitted using the 2 long pins provided.

Finally the ‘Pulpit’ is fitted to the trolley and pushed up over the hinge and onto the roof.

At this point it can be levelled using the 2 pins provided.

The platform is then pushed up the roof to it’s working position and locked off by dropping the gravity hook onto the nearest rung.

Climbing onto the platform, the two curved safety gates are closed behind the User and locked shut automatically.
